Zonta International is a worldwide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to improve the legal, political, economic, educational, health and professional status of women.

Founded in Buffalo, New York, USA, in 1919, Zonta takes its name from a Sioux Indian word meaning "honest and trustworthy."

At present there are 31 000 members in 1200 clubs and 66 countries.

Zonta Inernational has actively supported United Nations since its foundation in 1945. It is a member of ECOSOC (United Nations Economic and Social Council) and has the official observer status in UNIFEM, UNICEF, UNESCO and European Council.
